Rose Theresa Sikora

Rose Theresa Sikora, age 95, peacefully left her life on earth with the rush of angels' wings at Ball Pavilion in Brevillier Village on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. She was born in Lakewood, Ohio on July 25, 1917, the daughter of Rudolph and Karolina Bonk Surovick. Rose spent her childhood years in Crossingville, Pa. She was a resident of Erie and Lawrence Park her adult life. Rose was primarily a homemaker and had also previously worked part-time at the former Marx Toy Co., Avon, Curtis Publishing, Lawson Dairy Mart and as an aide for the hearing impaired for the Iroquois School District. She was a member of St. Marks R.C. Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Rose enjoyed crocheting, gardening, bowling, golf and dancing. Rose enjoyed cooking Slovak holiday foods - nut rolls and poppy seed rolls. She especially loved being with her family and sharing her love with them. Rose will long be remembered as a hard working, loving and fun person. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John Sikora; four sisters, Ann White, Agnes Kaufmann, Helen Moore and Nancy Giannelli; and five brothers, Victor, Stephen, Edward, Rudolph and Joseph Surovick. Survivors include her children, Caroline Coombes (Art), John Sikora (Cathie), Patricia Wisniewski (Ed) and Debra Sikora; three sisters, Marie Presogna, Veronica Whitman and Angeline Doan. Her 10 grandchildren, Edward Wisniewski (Michelle), Lori Pici (Michael), Michael Wisniewski (Ruth), Gregory Sikora, Mark Sikora (Maggie), Patrick Jones (Lisa), Shelley Jones, James Coombes, John Coombes (Sereena) and Matthew Coombes; her nine great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ava Wisniewski, Miranda Pici, Morgan Wisniewski, Molly Kate Sikora, Lilliana Mook, Kaylee Patterson, Christopher and Alexander Coombes; and friend, Wesley Kuchcinski. The family would like to thank the staff of Brevillier Village for their love, kindness, and wonderful care. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday at 10 a.m. at the St. Barnabas Chapel of Brevillier Village. Interment will be at St. Gregory Cemetery, North East.
