Sylvia J. Suddarth Madrigale

Sylvia J. Suddarth Madrigale, 85, a resident of Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center and formerly of Pine Ave., died Sunday January 6, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness. A resident of Erie most of her life she was born in Covington, Va. on March 19, 1927 a daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie Jennings Suddarth. Sylvia was a member of the 10th Street United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 571 Ladies Auxiliary, and the 4th Street Senior Citizens Group. She loved to dance. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Oliver Madrigale, Sr.; one son, Harold Madrigale; one daughter, Kathie Blawn; one sister, Mary Barnhart; and two brothers, James and Gordon "Buzz" Suddarth. Survivors include two sons, Gilbert Madrigale and his wife Karen of Bridgewater, Mass. and Oliver Madrigale Jr. and his wife Linda of Erie; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews including Lisa Suddarth. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
