Theodore August Klaproth of Pittston, Pa. and formerly of Erie passed away on March 5 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was born on May 15, 1928, the son of Theodore and Audrey Woods Klaproth. Ted worked for the GE company for 19 years before leaving to open the Skate Lodge Roller Rink, in Harborcreek. He then managed a number of other rinks. Ted loved teaching competitive roller skating and took numerous students to the national championships. He also enjoyed deer hunting and was an accomplished woodworker. Ted is survived by five children: Erik Klaproth and his wife, Renee' of Canton, Ga., Dane Klaproth and his wife, Barbara of Lawrence Park, Laurie Sherfey and her husband, Steve of Norfolk, Va., Bonnie Sanderson and her husband, Bryan of New Smyrna, Fla., and Kurt Faragher of Linnwood, N.J. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Miller of Philadelphia, and Fern Klaproth of Pittston and three grandchildren, David Frank and his wife, Katie of Lawrence Park, Audrey Sherfey, and Derek Sanderson. He was preceded in death by a son, Kody Faragher, a sister, Grace Wilson, and two brothers, James and Donald Klaproth, both of Pittston. Visiting hours will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday evening at H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, 211 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, Pa. with funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
