Thomas Richard "Thom" Brown

Thomas "Thom" Richard Brown, 80, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West, after a long decline associated with Alzheimer's disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bill and a beloved daughter Dale. Thom is survived by his wife Lynne and children Cory, Allison, Larry and Ken, and a Goddaughter, Natalie Beimel. Thom was an elementary school principal, esteemed by the staff and students of Robison and Summit Central schools, in the Fort LeBoeuf school district. Thom was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Erie, for over thirty years. During his years as treasurer, he taught himself computer skills in order to put the church's accounts in order, a first for us! He was deeply involved in the Buddhist Study Group at church, and found spiritual growth and serenity through Buddhist meditation practices. Thom was a long term committee member of Boy Scout Troop 73, in McKean, and continued to serve thereafter as a scouting commissioner, during which time he helped guide Cory from a Tiger Cub to Eagle Scout. As we say goodbye to this kind, gentle, virtuous and humorous man, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit has returned to unity with God and is everywhere with us. In his Goddaughter's words "Night, night, Thom, Thom. See you in the morning." Private arrangements were handled by the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, French Creek Council, 1815 Robinson Road, Erie, PA 16509, or the . Condolences and photos may be sent at
