Katherine Golaszewski Obituary

Katherine H. Golaszewski Katherine H. Golaszewski died Thursday morning, January 11, 2007, her 99th birthday at Ashtabula Medical Center. Katherine was born January 11, 1908 in Kent, Ohio, the daughter of John and Amelia (Faltisco) Snyder. She attended St. Mary School and later worked at the former Conneaut Can Co. and the former Goldette Underwear Factory as a seamstress. She worked at the Nickel Plate Railroad during World War II as a laborer in the roadhouse. She also picked and trimmed trees at local farms. Katherine retired from the former Astatic Corp. in 1971 where she worked on the assembly line producing the D104 microphones. Katherine was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Conneaut, the Polish American Society, the Slovenian Benevolent Society and the Union for the Astatic. She loved to cheer for the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking, polka music and traveling to visit family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin Golaszewski (1957), whom she married August 16, 1926 at St. Mary Church in Conneaut; infant daughters, Mary Ann and Julia Golaszewski; an infant son, Bernard Golaszewski; step-son, Peter Golaszewski; sisters, Mary Wojtowicz and Anna Ceeder; brothers, John and George Snyder; and a granddaughter, Mary Ann Gorski. Katherine is survived by three daughters, Millie Hall of West Springfield, Pa.; Helen and Lester Tharp of Conneaut; Agnes Fields of North Kingsville; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Mary Church, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Church Capital Campaign Fund, church Masses, or Hospice of Western Reserve of Ashtabula County, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
