Elmer Blystone Obituary

Elmer O. Blystone, 89, of Lottsville, Pa., passed away at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, November 2, 2015, at Corry Manor. He was born in East Springfield, Pa., on December 9, 1925, the son of the late L. Otto and Ethel (Lewis) Blystone.

Elmer graduated from Union City High School and served in the U.S. Navy in 1946 in Trinidad. He was employed as a machinist at Lords and General Electric in Erie for many years and was also Dairy Farmer. He attended the Lottsville UM Church. Elmer enjoyed his vegetable and flower garden, reprinting of pictures, collecting and recording genealogy, woodworking and made wooden miniature construction equipment, and camping and traveling in two other states. He was a 4-H leader in Warren County, served on the Warren County Fair Board and was a member of the county soil conservation program.

He was the husband of Catherine Blystone whom he married on May 6, 1950 in Union City at the Presbyterian Parsonage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Patrick) Dole of Panama, N.Y. and Christine Wolbert of Youngsville, Pa.; three sons, Gerry (Karen) Blystone of Farmers Branch, Texas, Everett (Elayne) Blystone of Russell, Pa., and Duane (Kristy) Blystone of Youngsville, Pa.; and one brother, Hubert (Bev) Blystone of Union City, Pa. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne L. Blystone in 1976, Allan J. Blystone in 2008; two sisters, E. Elizabeth Miller in 1986, Esther Alford in 1991; and two brothers, Bernard Blystone in 2000 and Melvin Blystone in 1997.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 54 West Main St., Youngsville, Pa. A funeral and committal service will be held at Lottsville United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Interment will be in Wrightsville Cemetery and will be private. The family suggests those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Lottsville UM Church or a charity of choice.
