Alysanne Doubet Obituary

Alysanne (Alice) Wilson Doubet, 88, formerly of 1324 South Shore Dr. died peacefully at St. Mary's Home, a year and a half after suffering a stroke. Alice was born in Schenectady, N.Y. the daughter of the late Harold F. and Alice Quigley Wilson. Her father's transfer with the General Electric brought the family to Erie. Alice attended Mercyhurst Seminary/Prep School and Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, graduating with a BS in Chemistry. Soon after graduation she married Alexis F. (Bus) Doubet and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his death in 2003. Alice received her teaching certification in secondary mathematics from Villa Maria College and her masters in guidance and counseling from Gannon University. She spent twenty years teaching and counseling in the Erie School District, primarily at Roosevelt Jr. High and Strong Vincent High Schools. After retiring Alice continued her teaching by her membership in the Erie Bridge Association where she was a player, director, life master and teacher of duplicate bridge. She truly loved the bridge center and all the wonderful times she had there. Additionally, Alice had a unique sense of humor, loved golf, playing the piano, reading and especially traveling, vacationing and enjoying parties and every type of social event with her and Bus's large circle of friends. The memories, for us their children, are countless and endearing. Alice is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Doubet in 1984, her brothers, Harold (Harry) and John (Jack) Wilson, her niece, Judith Seidel, nephew, Harold (Budd) Wilson and her sisters-in-law, Sister Mary Mark Doubet, SSJ and Rita Doubet Seidel. Survivors include her daughters; Sister Susan Doubet, OSB, of Mount St. Benedict Monastery and Sally Doubet, Polk, Pa. and nieces and nephews, Barbara Seidel Parker (Terry), Bill Wilson (Stephanie), Barbara Wilson Shadle, Mary Wilson Kull (Steve), Bonnie Wilson Kerscher (Bill), John Barry Wilson (Marcia), Sherry Wilson, Julie Wilson Flower (Charlie) and many great nieces and nephews. Much gratitude is expressed to the nurses, aides and staff of St. Mary's East, both those on the residential side where Alice lived for five and a half years, and on the skilled care side, Unit C. Your kindness and care will never be forgotten. Special thanks to the Sisters of St. Joseph, particularly Sisters Mary Fromknecht and Nancy Prenatt and to Sisters Anne Wambach and Mary Ellen Plumb, OSB for their friendship and care for Alice. Memorials can be made to the Patricia Doubet Scholarship Fund of Villa Maria Academy, 2403 W. 8th St. 16505 or the Benedictine Sisters Ministry Fund, 6101 East Lake Rd, 16511. Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 845 East 38th Street, at Pine Avenue, on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at Mount St. Benedict Monastery on Thursday from 4 p.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Dear Sister Susan,
Your mother led quite an impressive life and now she's in the most heavenly place. My sympathy to you (my mother passed away a few years ago just before the holidays as well.) Pat Keim is now under hospice care at St.Mary's and yesterday the family celebrated her 93rd birthday. May you be surrounded with peace and love at the Mount.

Susan, very sorry to read about your mother. Although my last name has changed, I grew up across the street from you, on the corner of 6th and Beverly Drive, and I remember your mother's wry sense of humor very well. As I remember two of my favorite neighbors, you and Patty. Take care - you are in my thoughts.

Dear Susan,

While many years have passed we all remember the dear memories of Mom and how gracious and compassionate she always was. Just a fine lady, with a good sense of humor and endouring faith.
Still can remember how much she loved bridge...and how good she was.
Mom and Dad were so much a part of our lives as children, what a crew they all were, and it is with deep condolences that we honor their memory at this time.
God bless you and keep you....in His Light.

The Kirschner Family,
Don, Gary, Ken, Susan and Patrick
