Fred Schetter Obituary

Fred P. Schetter Jr., age 85, of Wattsburg, died on Tuesday February 8, 2011 at home. He was born on August 6, 1925 in Carney, Mich. to the late Fred P. and Isabelle LeDuc Schetter. Fred graduated high school in Kingsford, Mich. and was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Marine Corp. He was formerly employed as an iron worker Local 348 retiring in 1990. Fred loved sports, fishing, hunting and bowling. He is preceded in death by his wife Jane E. Miller Schetter; one brother, Gary Schetter; and two sisters; Janet Badish and Marybelle Graczyk. He is survived by his four daughters, Connie Lee Dzenis and husband Edward of Mars, Pa., Robin Devon Papesh and husband Frank of Pheonix, Arizona, Jackie Parmenter and husband Randy of North East, and Melissa J. Lunger and fiance' Will Barton of Lowville; three sons, Alan Schetter and wife Michele of Martinsville, Va., Stephen Schetter and wife Yvonne of Corry, and Terry Schetter and wife Carla of York, Pa.; sister Carol Jane Gendron of Milwaukee, Wis.; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street North East. Officiating will be North East American Legion Post 105, with full military honors. Private Burial at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the John Kanzius Research Foundation, 130 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16501.
