Geraldine Kubiak Obituary
Gerry graduated from the Hamot School of Nursing in 1950 and worked as a registered nurse for several hospitals and nursing homes, including Hamot, The Manor Home, Rondale Nursing Home and the Presbyterian Lodge. She was an active member of St. George Parish for many years, and along with her husband Robert, was an active member of the Miracle Mile Senior Club.
"Gerry" raised seven loving children during her wonderful life, in addition to working as a nurse
She always had a cheerful and upbeat attitude despite her affliction of rheumatoid arthritis for many years and was always a source of strength for her husband and family.
She was preceded in death by a toddler son, Daniel; her brothers, Robert Johnson, Donald Johnson; and sisters, Priscilla Johnson and Natalie Mayer.
She is survived by one daughter, Diane Kolaja (Mark) of Spartansburg, Pa.; five sons, David Kubiak (Natalie) of Erie, Dennis Kubiak (Joni) of Dover, Pa., Donald Kubiak (Denise) of Erie, Dana Kubiak (Paula) of Erie, and Douglas Kubiak of Erie; 14 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren with number 11 due to arrive any day.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd. Services will be held there on Thursday at 9:20 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
The family would also like to extend its sincere appreciation to the staff at Walnut Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center (formerly Golden Living - Walnut Creek), as well as Aseracare Hospice Services. Their loving care for Gerry and the family were such a comfort during her stay.
