Alberta H. (Coudriet) Burbules, 86, a long time resident of Greene Township passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at home following a brief illness. She was born in Karthaus, Clearfield County, Pa. on April 23, 1926. She was the second youngest and last surviving of 13 children of the late Herman and Mary Frances (Shadeck) Coudriet. Alberta was a dairy farmer with her husband for many years. She worked at the General Telephone Company and the Wattsburg School District and a loving mother to her children. She was a member of the St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, and recited daily devotions to the Blessed Mother. Alberta had numerous past times, an avid BINGO Player, she was thrilled to share her winnings. She enjoyed playing cards with family, liked playing the daily number, she never met a puzzle book she did not enjoy, and reading the Erie Times Newspaper kept her mind sharp. She took pleasure in fishing with her family, watching baseball games and in her later days sitting on the front porch swinging and watching the birds. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Burbules, Sr., infant son, John Joseph Burbules, her siblings, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Rita (Andy)Wheeler, Frank Burbules, Cynthia (Robert) Wise, Barbara (Timothy) Bayhurst, Theresa Rula, John G. Burbules (Tina), Cathy Bargielski and her companion John Fosco all of Erie. Also her faithful caregiver and close friend, Connie Sackett, 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. She fulfilled her dream of having a big family. Her children, especially her youngest son granted her final wish to pass away at home surrounded by her family and caregiver. Family and friends may call at the Merle E. Wood Funeral Home, Inc., 215 West 25th Street on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Boniface Church at 11:00 a.m. Send condolences to www.merlewoodfh.com Burial will be in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
