Andrew P. "Andy" Fiscus Obituary
Andrew P. "Andy" Fiscus, age 75, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge East. He was born in New Bethlehem, Pa. on April 17, 1937, son of the late Charles and Susanna Dwyer Fiscus. A resident of Erie most of his life Andy was raised in his early years at the former St. Joseph's Home for Children. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served on the U.S.S. Boston during the Cold War. Andy worked for Swanson's of Erie for many years. He then worked for the Catholic Diocese of Erie, at St. Mark Seminary. Andy was a member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, American Legion Post #11, and was a long time member of St. Patrick R.C. Church where he served as an usher, lector, greeter, cantor and sang with the choir. Andy sang tenor with the Danish Choristers for many years before singing at the Erie Maennerchor. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his dogs. Preceded in death by his long time companion, Evelyn Hazlett in 2002, his sisters, Rosella Milloy and Helen Luteran. Survivors include his sister, Dolores Makowski (Edmund) of Erie; his children, Theresa Almeda (Ronald) of Ashland, Ohio, Annmarie Hazlett of Georgia, Michelle Ortiz (Eddie) of Erie, Denise Stromenger (Dave) of W. Springfield, Pa., Regina Hazlett of Erie and Robert Hazlett, Jr. of Erie; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th Street on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Monday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick R.C.
