Ann Somolani DePlatchett Obituary
Ann Somolani DePlatchett, age 96, passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 10, 2018, at St. Mary's Home East, where she had resided since 2010.

Prior to that, Ann lived in Lawrence Park for 60 years. She was a loving mother and wife who took great pride in her family and her home. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlework, decorating, and playing the piano. Her family had many festive sing-a-longs with Ann at the keys.

Ann was born to Helena and Alois Somolani, on January 2, 1922.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond "Bud;" her daughter Nancy; her brother, John Somolani; and her sister, Helen Izzo.

Her daughter, Susan DePlatchett of Greenbelt, Maryland survives her. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.

Ann was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and was active in the Rosary Society. She worked for Erie Insurance for many years and was considered one of the "Pioneers" there. She loved a good tennis game and enjoyed her Monday Night and Tuesday Morning golf leagues at the Lawrence Park Golf Club, where she and her husband were members for many years. In their retirement, they enjoyed golfing, taking trips and cruises with the GEER group, and visiting their daughters in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary's Home East for their extraordinary support and care.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Further visitation will be held on Monday at St. Mary's Home of Erie Chapel (Reed Street Entrance) from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
