Ardys Elaine (Green) Moniot, 83, of Erie, died at St. Vincent Hospital, Wednesday, November 14, 2012 due to heart disease. Ardys was born on July 2, 1929 in Corry, Pa. to Charlie Willard Green and his wife, Cecil Victoria. She was preceded in death by her brother, LaRue Potter and her sister, Helene Young and is survived by two sisters; Arlys Rea of Girard and Shirley Petersen of Cranesville, and a brother; Arold Green, and Eva Bien of Ridgecrest, Calif., and a grandson Kevin Kelly. Ardys graduated from Erie Business School and then met her late husband, Vernon Louis Moniot during her employment at General Electric. They were married on January 6, 1951 in Erie, and honeymooned at a frozen Niagara Falls. Ardys was a longtime member of St. Ann's/Holy Family Parish. She was a member of the Siebenberger Club. She supported the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Center. She was the mother of two late sons, Michael and Jason, and is survived by eight children: Cheryl and David Green of McKean; Rebecca Moniot of Davie, Fla.; Janine Moniot and Kit Kessinger of Ramona, Calif., Mary and Gale Kelly of Millcreek, Paul Moniot of Ramona, Calif.; Mark and Silvia Moniot of Monrovia, Calif., Renee Moniot of Millcreek, and Jon Moniot of Erie. She was a grandmother to 21, a great-grandmother of eleven, and great great grandmother to two. Ardys Moniot, will be remembered for her commitment to being a loving, tolerant, compassionate, accepting and encouraging mother of her many children on their diverse life paths. She was an advocate / a mother to have in your corner if you were alone and in need. Her commitment to parenting and the personal and spiritual growth she achieved through it were revealed through the ever evolving and deepening connection with her children, grandchildren and all those whose life she touched. She was an ardent prayer, a lover of card parties and camaraderie, and she enjoyed a bit of gambling. She loved to listen and talk. Viewing is to be held at Mark Razanauskas Funeral Home, 701 East Avenue, on Sunday, November 18th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 921 East Avenue. She will be buried at Trinity Cemetery. Donations to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill or the Gertrude Barber Center are appreciated. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the caring professionalism demonstrated by the clergy, doctors, nurses, and other staff of Saint Vincent's Health System.
