Arlene B. Wurst, age 99, of Girard, died Tuesday December 4, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was born August 23, 1913 in Mill Village, Pa., a daughter of the late Evan O. "Doc" and Olive Geist Burgess. Arlene was a lifelong resident of Girard, and a graduate of Rice Avenue Union High School. She began working for the Girard Model Works in 1928, where she continued her employment there for 50 years until her retirement in 1979. She enjoyed the family's camp in Barnes, Pa. for many years. She also enjoyed traveling and working with the people at Girard Model Works. She was a member of the 55ers Club in Girard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Wurst on November 24, 1994, whom she married January 26, 1935 in McKean; also by a sister, June M. Burgess on April 27, 1991; two grandsons, Mark J. Adams on August 14, 1990 and Raymond F. Adams on July 20, 1970; and a granddaughter, Colleen Jo Adams on April 23, 1963. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy J. Adams and her husband, Mark of Girard and Marlene R. Eagley and her husband, Donald of Lake City; three grandchildren, Chris Carlson and her husband, Eric, Donald E. Eagley and his fiancé, Chris MacWhirter, and Raymond K. Eagley and his wife, Melissa; six great-grandchildren, Sara Carlson, Laura Carlson, Jenna Carlson, Evan Eagley, Madeline Eagley and Tanner Eagley; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard.
