Carl A. Lohse, age 86, of Erie, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012 at St. Mary's Home of Erie, East. Born March 16, 1926 in Erie he was the son of the late George and Marjorie Lohse. Carl proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later worked as a mechanic at Lyons Transportation for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling and golfing including participation in many leagues over the years. Carl was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, a member of the American Legion 571, and a life member of both the South Erie Turners and the Sunflower Club. He was also an artist that learned from Joe Plavacan. Besides parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen "Mimi" Lohse; two brothers, Richard "Dick" and George "Bud" Lohse; and a sister, Hilma "Himmy" Wheeler. Survivors include, a daughter, Lynda Madrigale, husband Ollie, of Erie; four grandchildren, Joseph Orengia, Jr., wife Lynne, Julie Schroeder, husband Jeff, Nicole Orengia, and Darren Orengia all of Erie; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the chapel at Erie County Memorial Gardens, 7880 Edinboro Rd with pastor Curtis Jones officiating. Memorials may be made to the .
