Charles J. Eisert Obituary
Charles J. Eisert passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018, surrounded by family in prayer. He was born on November 10, 1918, to Henry and Elizabeth (Stadler) Eisert.

He attended Sacred Heart Elementary and Cathedral Preparatory High School. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State Erie. He served in the Army from 1943-1946 as part of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces under General Dwight D. Eisenhower and was stationed in London, Paris and Frankfurt. He was a keen businessman. His expertise served Gloekler Manufacturing, Gloekler Refrigeration, General – Erie, Glowtex Lighting, United Industrial Supply, Plastic Coating and Molding, and Aetna Mechanical Co. He was president and CEO of Gloekler Refrigeration and retired in 1990.

He married the love of his life, Mary (Weyand) Eisert, on August 23, 1947. Despite a busy career and family life, Chuck and Mary always found time to volunteer in the community. During his tenure as the President of the Board of Directors for the Barber National Institute, Chuck and Mary received the Distinguished Service Award for their many years of service. He also served as a trustee for Saint Vincent Hospital and was a member of the Advisory Board of Catholic Charities. He was devoted to the Millcreek Youth Athlete Association and served as Treasurer for many years. He was honored to be part of the Gannon-Hahnemann Joint Selection Committee that chose many talented young students for an expedited track to become local physicians. In fact, he ultimately became a patient of many of those choices. Chuck was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, the Maennerchor, East Erie Turners, and the National Association of Purchasing Management. Chuck was an avid reader and tennis player.

Chuck and Mary had five children: Joe Eisert (Jan-d.), Mary Kay Eisert-Wlodarczyk (Gary), Ann Eisert Carmichael, Carol Tennermann (Mike) and Gerry Eisert (Dawn), who cherish their memories. He is also survived by thirteen wonderful grandchildren, of whom he was incredibly proud: Sara (Dan), Emma, Hana, and Corey; Beth (Grant) and Christine (Brendan); Chaz, Kate (Scott), and Robbie; and Ashley, Brianna, Andrew, and Madison. His great-grandchildren were an incredible bonus to his life: Atticus, Oliver, Thea, River, and Isla.

In addition to his parents and his wife of nearly 65 years, greeting Papa in Heaven are his brother Robert, sisters Lavina and Madeline, and grandson Collin.

A special thank you goes to the staff at Saint Vincent Hospital for their incredible accommodations and truly compassionate care for Papa and us.
