Beloved Dad and Grandfather

Charles Price, Jr., 88, of Union City, died on Thursday, January 10, 2019, as the result of an automobile accident on Route 6.

He was born in Union City on October 24, 1930 a son of the late Charles and Mabel Austin Price, Sr.

After graduation from Union City High School, Chuck enlisted in the US Army on July 28, 1949. He served as a bulldozer operator with the 862nd Engineer Aun. Bn in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on February 16, 1952.

He joined the IBEW Electricians Union Local 56 where at various times he served as its' President and its' Business Agent. As a union electrician, he worked on many local projects including the Albion Prison and the Litton Bldg. in Erie.

Chuck was a member of the Parade Street United Methodist Church in Union City. He was very active in his community. He was current President of the Evergreen Cemetery Association Board, a current or former member of the Board of Directors of the Union City Senior Center, the Union City Public Library and Manley Heights Senior Living facility. He also served Meals on Wheels, worked for Habitat for Humanities in Union City and Erie, the Union City and Erie Food Bank and the Union City Homecoming Parade Committee. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, swimming and talking long walks, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy M. Harris Price, on June 6, 2016. They were married on April 18, 1953. He was further preceded in death by his seven siblings.

He is survived by four sons, Gary (Yvonne) Price, and Mark (LuAnn) Price of Union City, Matt (Lorette) Price of Centerville and Craig (Theresa) Price of Forest, Va.; one daughter, Cheryl (Ronald) Nirmaier of Union City; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private calling hours for the family will be held at the C. S. Warthman Funeral Home, Inc., 69 N. Main St., Union City. Friends are invited to attend a service on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Parade Street United Methodist Church, 7 Parade Street, Union City with Pastor James Cannistraci officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck's memory may be made to the The Union City Public Library, Stranahan Street, Union City, PA 16438 or the Union City Senior Center, 27 Johnson Street, Union City, PA 16438.
