Dale M. Wentz, Sr., 59, of Erie, died Saturday morning, December 29, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness. A resident of Erie most of his life he was born in Westfield, N.Y. on April 4, 1953 a son of David L. and Violet Batts Wentz. Dale originally worked for Zurn Industries for over 20 years and most recently worked for PHB Machining and Molding as a machinist. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved his dogs and camping in Tionesta. In addition to his parents survivors include his wife of 39 years, Betty J. Burdette Wentz; two sons, Dale M. Wentz Jr. and his wife Faith and Kevin Wentz and his wife Julie, all of Erie; one daughter, Tammy Learn and her husband James of Erie; one brother, Zeke Wentz and his wife Ann of Lakeland, Fl; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Wentz. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
