Daniel Palermo Obituary
Daniel Palermo, age 70, of Roswell, Ga., passed away peacefully, on September 4, 2018.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Kelly), also of Roswell, and father of Aaron of Athens, Ga. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph "T.J." and Carol Palermo of Jacksonville, Fla., niece and Goddaughter, Heather Palermo and husband Cory Crawford of Great Falls, Montana and niece, Marci Palermo of Erie, Pa. He also has two great-nieces and three great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Palermo II, mother and stepfather, Jeanne and Robert Malinowski, brother, Michael "Mickey" Palermo, and nephew, Michael Palermo.

He was born in Erie, Pa. and raised in the small community of Northeast, Pa., where he enjoyed his family, friends, dogs, muscle cars and Pittsburgh Steelers. He became a Medical Laboratory Technician after graduating from Carnegie in 1967. He enlisted in the Army and served as a crew chief on Huey helicopters (how he loved those Hueys). After the military, he returned to Gannon University in Erie, eventually earning his B.S. and M.S. in Microbiology. He spent several years working in healthcare before turning his professional attention to environmental microbiology and bioremediation. He was a pioneer in this field using bacteria to clean up hazardous waste. He would say he got paid to do his hobby.

Upon retirement, he continued to spend time with his family surrounded by his friends, dogs and a muscle car, all the time rooting for the Steelers saying, "This year they will get the seventh ring."

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Save the Manatee Club or Canine Assistants in Alpharetta, Ga. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 7th, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Totes 2 Tots a Northside Hospital Charity, give.northside.com/totes2tots.
