Donald E. "Don" Johnson Obituary
Donald E. "Don" Johnson, age 66, of Wesleyville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Twinbrook Medical Center, following an extended illness. Don was born January 5, 1947, in Erie, son of the late George M. and Ruby H. Anderson Johnson. He had resided in Erie his entire life. He was a graduate of Iroquois High School. Don was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was employed by General Electric Co. for 35 years, prior to his retirement. After retirement, he had also been employed at the Valu Home Center, on Buffalo Road. Don was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club, G.E. Retiree's Assn. and a life member of the North East V.F.W. Don was a longtime member of Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church and had previously served on the church council for many years. He was an avid collector of Snoopy memorabilia. He was preceded in death by one sister, Georgia Brown, and two sons, James J. Driscoll (2005) and Patrick D. Johnson (2008). Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Marilyn L. Buzzard Johnson; two sons, Timothy Driscoll (Wendy) of Albany, Ga. and Brian Driscoll (Marie) of Lake City; one sister, Judy Newton (Richard) of North East; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 12 noon, conducted by Rev. Albert Gesler, Jr. Interment will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, with full military honors.
