Donald Ray Richardson

1929 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Donald Ray "The Duck" Richardson, age 88, of Harborcreek, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital, following a sudden illness. He was born in Shelocta, Pa., on October 4, 1929, son of the late Lindsay Earl and Sara Elizabeth (Potts) Richardson.

Don was a 1947 graduate of Indiana High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was employed as a welder for over 40 years by the General Electric Co., prior to his retirement. Don was also a licensed barber and had barbered on a part-time basis for many years in his brother's shop in Harborcreek.

"The Duck" was an avid outdoorsman; hunting and fishing being his primary passions. He also enjoyed going to flea markets, travelling and spending time at the family camp in Potter County. He was a faithful member of Arbuckle Alliance Church, where he loved attending Sunday worship services. Don will be lovingly remembered by family and friends for his wonderful sense of humor and his never-failing willingness to be of help to anyone at any time.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his ten siblings; one grandson, Dale A. Peters, Jr.; and one son-in-law, Richard "Rick" Mittner.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Rose L. (Bennett) Richardson; two children, Kathy Mittner of Harborcreek and Donald Roy Richardson of Erie; five stepchildren, Debbie Roth (Jeff) of Lawrence Park, Bob Johnson of Erie, Larry Johnson (Tammy) of Florida, Peggy Shields (Scott) of Zullinger, Pa. and Galenda Vogel (Mark) of Wattsburg; one brother-in-law, Leslie Bennett (Sue) of Erie; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, August 12th at 1:00 p.m. at the Arbuckle Alliance Church, 13668 Hopson Hill Rd., Union City. The service will be conducted by Pastor Doug Byrne and will follow the regular Sunday morning worship. Don will be laid to rest, with full military honors, at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arbuckle Alliance Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 5151 Buffalo Rd., Harborcreek. Share your condolences at www.dusckas-taylorfuneralhome.com.
