E. LaVonne Hand Hall

1925 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Absent from the body, present with the Lord

E. LaVonne Hand Hall, age 92, of North East and formerly Harborcreek, passed away peacefully at Ball Pavilion on Friday, September 14, 2018. She was born in DuBois, Pa., on December 21, 1925, daughter of the late Arthur T. and Ruth E. (Wilson) Hand.

Vonnie was a 1943 graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1947 graduate of the Bryn-Mawr School of Nursing where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. On March 20, 1949, she married her late husband, Robert, and in 1955 they moved to Erie from Schenectady, N.Y. to raise their family. Vonnie was a devoted follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a prayerful member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Missionary Group. Nothing gave her more pleasure than to see her family follow the way of Christ. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, traveling locally and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Burns Hall; one great-grandson, Joshua Hall and one brother, Charles Hand.

Survivors include her five children: Robert A. Hall (Kathy) of Ontario, N.Y., Richard G. Hall (Rebecca) of North East, Marcia L. Gribbin (Thomas) of McKean, Pa., Jeffrey L. Hall (Suzie L.) of Harborcreek and Karen B. Lechtner (Jake) of North East; one brother, Richard "Dick" Hand (Loretta) of Melborne, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Jackie Hand of Erie; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.), on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service to be conducted there at 10:30 a.m. by her grandson, Pastor Robert Gribbin. Vonnie will be laid to rest privately at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie City Mission, 1023 French St., Erie, PA 16512.
