Elsie M. (Ochran) Barbato, age 82, of Millcreek, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Saint Vincent Health Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Erie on November 15, 1930, she was a daughter of the late George and Susan (Belyan) Ochran. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose family was very important to her. She loved when the family got together for Sunday dinners and picnics. She and her husband wintered in Florida, enjoyed traveling and cruising, and went to Europe several times. Elsie was a member of the Wolves Club Auxiliary, and golfed in a ladies league at Overlake Golf Course. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Charity Dore, two brothers, George and Mike Ochran, and three sisters, Helen Culver, Sue Andrzejewski and Anne Ives. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Alfred "Fred" Barbato; a son, Fred Barbato, Jr., wife Judie, of Erie; two daughters, D'vorah (Debi) Dore, husband Dennis, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Susan Dey, husband John, of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Ted and Tim Kaczmarek, Lisa Torino, Michelle Vale, Joe and Scott Barbato, Ryan, Daniel and Jack Dey; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Zoey Kaczmarek and Ava Apthorp; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend a prayer service there Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church at 10 o'clock.
