Frances K. Witosky Obituary
Frances K. Witosky (nee Fox), age 87, died peacefully, at her home at Parkside Senior Living in North East, on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Erie County, she was born on July 23, 1931, in Erie, to Frank J. Fox and Ada A. Fox (nee Barber).

Fran graduated from Academy High School in 1949 and married Edward L. Witosky on December 24, 1955. After raising her children, she worked as a head cashier and department manager at the east side Hills Department store, from the time of its opening in the early 1970s until her retirement in 1996.

Fran's greatest calling, however, was that of a loving wife, mother, caretaker, and friend. She was the true matriarch of her family, which was the most important thing in the world to her. She was enormously proud and supportive of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Fran also had numerous friends, many of whom she made after moving to Parkside in 2012. Fran enjoyed reading novels, writing poetry, and knew the lyrics to countless songs from the 30s, 40s and 50s, as well as many hymns. She was a longtime member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Erie, joining St. Peter's Lutheran Church after moving to North East.

Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Vaughn and Laurie (Andrew) Urbaniak, both of Erie; sons, Gary (Kate) Witosky of Chardon, Ohio, David (Carole) Witosky of Lancaster, Ohio, Paul (Lesli) Witosky of Harborcreek, Ronald (Joyce) Witosky of Erie, and Robert (Kelly) Witosky of Gilbert, Arizona; brother-in-law, Donald (Charlotte) Witosky of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on June 15 1998; sisters, Kay Hollenbeck and Ada L. Corey; and brothers, Donald and Ross Fox.

The family would like to express their gratitude to those who provided care to Fran over the last months of her life, including the staffs at Parkside, LECOM Senior Living Center Rehabilitation, and the Visiting Nurses Association. Heartfelt thanks goes to Sally Valone, her special friend and caregiver.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Monday at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Matthew Dennison. Interment will follow at North East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1500 Freeport Road, North East, PA 16428.
