Gayle Lynne Cady Obituary
Gayle Lynne Cady, 64, of North East, peacefully passed away at her home, on Monday, September 3, 2018, surrounded by loved ones, and with her cat Buzzy by her side. She was born on September 25, 1953, the daughter of the late Dale and Mabel "Ruth" Pierce in Erie, Pa.

Despite her many health complications over the years, she was known best for her cheery and positive attitude and ability to smile even in the face of much pain and adversity. She enjoyed socializing and going out to eat with friends, was always very fond of cats and collected much cat paraphernalia. She was also an active volunteer and member of State Line United Methodist Church. She took great pride in her role as mother to two boys, of whom she was extremely proud: Kory Cady, 36, a teacher at Harbor Creek High School and Matt Cady, 32, who recently complete his Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University.

After spending eight years on kidney dialysis, Gayle was the recipient of a kidney transplant in May of 2008. This surgery not only freed her from dialysis treatments, but gave her and her family and friends a new lease on life, which she would extend another ten years. Gayle was always a giving person and wanted to be able to help others in her passing. As such, her remains have been donated to be used for scientific research and educational purposes.

Survivors include her two sons: Kory Cady and wife Carrie, of Harborcreek and Matt Cady of North East; a brother, Tim Pierce and wife Marlene of Greensboro, N.C.; granddaughter, Lily Gayle Cady; several nieces and nephews; and her longtime friend and loving neighbor, Vivian Young.

Services are under the care of William D. Elkin Funeral Home. A visitation service for family and friends will be held Friday, September 7th from 6-8 p.m. at William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake Street, North East, Pa., and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 8th at 1 p.m. at State Line United Methodist Church with luncheon to follow.
