Loving Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother

Geraldine "Gerry" Godwin, 90, of Springboro, passed away due to a sudden illness on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at UPMC Hamot. She was born July 13, 1928 in Meadville, a daughter of the late John and Mildred (French) Rudler.

Gerry owned and operated her own beauty shop in Springboro for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Springboro, the Garden Club and the Amicus Club. She recently received an award for her wonderful flowers and garden. She enjoyed playing cards, travelling and camping.

She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and going to all their activities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Lawrence B. "Goose" Godwin, and a brother, Milford Rudler. Gerry is survived by a son, Larry Godwin and his wife, Becky, of Springboro, a daughter, Pat Patterson and her husband, Roger, of Swansboro, N.C., three grandchildren, Laura Mealy and her husband, Darren, of Meadville, Thomas "TJ" Godwin and his wife, Amy, of Springboro, Brian Jackson and his wife, Stevie, of Oklahoma, six great-grandchildren, Caden and Kendall Mealy, Heath and Quinn Godwin, Ryle Jackson and Rowdy Hillier, and one more great-grandson to be born soon.

Also surviving is a brother, Charles Rudler and his wife, Donna Mae, of Linesville, a sister, Janet Guiney of Linesville, a sister-in-law, Jane Rudler of the Franklin area, a brother-in-law, Harry Godwin and his wife, Teresa, of Beckley, W. Va., and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service there at 11 a.m. with Pastor Keith Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Cemetery, Springboro. Memorials may be made in honor of Gerry to the United Church of Springboro, 117 South Main Street, Springboro, PA 16435.
