Helen Turner Obituary

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister Helen Louise Benner Turner, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, September 29, 2012. She was born in Warren, Pa. on January 12, 1928, daughter of the late Nathaniel and Edna Wine Benner. Helen resided in Tidioute, Pa. until moving to Erie in 1954. She retired from the downtown YMCA in 2005 with over 20 years of service and had been honored as employee of the year in 1993. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her greatest love was her Savior, Jesus Christ, and spending time with her family. Helen was very loving and compassionate, always helping people, and loved by all. She loved Bingo, crossword puzzles, watching the sunset on Lake Erie, taking rides in the country, traveling, music, dance and chocolate. Helen is the loving mother of five daughters, Carol Kozlowski (Ray), Vonalee Aldrete, Linda Schuler (Dean), Mary Poniatowski (Carl), and Kimberly Turner; two sons, Robert Turner (Mina) and Charles Turner; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Warner and Martha Frisina (Joe); one brother, Robert Benner (Susan); brothers-in-law, Jack McKown and Joshua Bupp; a very dear friend, Marta Tanko; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles W. Turner, Jr.; grandson, John D'Angelo; great-grandson, Xavier Hart; three brothers, C. Albert, Philip and Fred Benner; five sisters, Harriette and Josephine Gustafson, Mary Glass, Grace McKown and Edna Benner. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. James Grove. Private interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions me be made to Regional Hospice, 3526 Peach St., Erie, PA 16508. Well Mom,
It will be one year Sunday of you passing away. I sit here sometimes at night and just cry because I can't talk to you or be able to hug and say I love you Mom. Its hard at times but having the Faith in Jesus that tells us Absent from the body Present with the Lord. I believe in my heart that you are in his arms. I still miss you alot and always will.

Dear Tuner family,
