1940 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Jane Louise (Zimmer) Allen Obituary
Jane Louise (Zimmer) Allen, age 77, of Wattsburg, Pa., passed away surrounded by family, at her home, on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Born the daughter of the late Herman and Beatrice (Applebee) Zimmer, on December 23, 1940, Jane was raised with a strong devotion to family, faith, and friends.

Always with a smile on her face, Jane was an adventurist spirit who enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world, including Paris and all across the continental United States. In the summer, she enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and camping with her extended family. Jane could always be counted on to lift spirits with carols around her organ, the fire pit, or in a horse drawn sleigh. As a devoted lifetime member of the Phillipsville and Wattsburg United Methodist churches, she volunteered many hours working benefit dinners, playing hand bells and the piano, and singing in the choir.

As a graduate of the Wattsburg Area School District, Jane went on to work in many different industries. She worked hard as a cook, waitress, cashier, butcher, shop worker, office worker, and finally, her favorite, as a church secretary.

While raising her five children, she worked in the Wattsburg Elementary and Middle School cafeterias. When most of her children were grown, Jane was employed at Elgin Electronics, both on the line, and later in the office. Jane even tried her hand at a small business venture with her daughter-in-law Michele. Jane's final, and most-loved occupation, was being the church secretary for Wattsburg and Phillipsville United Methodist churches.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Allen, her son, Derek Allen, a sister, Eleanor Mokwa, and a brother, Frank Zimmer.

Jane's survivors include children: Melonie Vanderhoof (Kevin), Wattsburg, Andy Allen, Wattsburg, Bethanie Polito (Brian), Wattsburg, and Christopher Allen (Erica), Wattsburg, daughter-in-law, Michele Urquhart, (Steve), Wattsburg, grandchildren: Brandon Rourke (Kayla), Shane Rourke (Hillary), Kyle Rourke (Amanda), Garett Allen (Ashley), Beverly Allen (Devin), Broderek Allen, Alexander Polito, Casey Allen, and Conor Allen, great-grandchildren: Eliza Valerie Rourke, River Kevin Rourke, and Peyton McKinnley Rourke and siblings: Phyllis Lowe, Union City, Delores Leslie, Tucson, Ariz., Rosalyn Briggs, (Daniel), Union City, Jack Zimmer (Jeanne), Luray, Va. and Jerry Zimmer (Marylou), Easton, Pa.

Jane was a dear friend to many and will surely be missed at Sunday services and card parties around the county. Those who knew Jane as their friend, probably knew her best of all.

Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street, on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. and may attend the Funeral Service on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Phillipsville United Methodist Church, 11469 Phillipsville Rd., Wattsburg, Pa.
