Joanne H. Makynen Obituary
Joanne H. Makynen, age 84, of Fairview, Pa., passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Pleasant Ridge Manor.

She was born in Erie on July 10, 1934, daughter of the late Neal A. and Mildred Guinen Seyler and was a Class of 1952 graduate of Academy High School.

Over her life, she worked at General Telephone Company, the Boston Store, Cohen Furniture, as a secretary at Luciano Builders and as an Avon Representative.

Joanne's most cherished job was being a devoted homemaker who loved caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, dancing and family vacations. She also enjoyed attending parades and functions with her husband who was a member of the Erepa Grotto Pipes and Drums. She was a member and past treasurer of Erepa Grottoettes.

Joanne was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church since 1953 and served as coffee hour hostess, offertory counter and former nursery attendant.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur R. Makynen and a daughter Suzanne Zalik.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Staynoff (Gary) of Edinboro and Valerie Chetoni (Roger) of Fairview; five grandchildren; Katie Jones (Phil), Stephanie Chetoni (Chris Webb), Samantha Chetoni (Kurt Heubel), Sarah Miller (Steve) and Andy Zalik; a son-in-law, Joseph Zalik and a great-grandson, Nolan Webb. She is also survived by a brother, Gary T. Seyler (Kathleen) and a niece Debra O'Connor along with a nephew and two additional nieces.

Services and burial in Fairview Cemetery were private and entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street Erie, PA 16506.
