John L. "Bud" Dick, Jr., 87, of Wattsburg, died Wednesday morning, January 15, 2014 at Groves Personal Care Home in Corry, following a lengthy illness. A resident of the Erie area most of his life, he was born in McKeesport, Pa. on July 21, 1926, a son of the late John L. Sr. and Elizabeth Lamb Dick.

Bud was a graduate of McKeesport High School and went on to serve in the United States Army Air Corps, as a radio operator, during World War II. He worked with GE for 17 years, and most recently, worked with Erie Forge and Steel, before retiring in 1993. He was lovingly known as "John Wayne," and enjoyed anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Wills Dick and one grandson, Joshua Foster.

Survivors include one son, George Dick of Wattsburg; one daughter, Pam Olson and her husband David of Wattsburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Dick; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 7 p.m. until the time of services there at 8 p.m. Burial will be private, and at the convenience of the family.
