John R. "Randy" Strauss, age 61, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his residence, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born in Erie on August 29, 1951, son of the late John R. and Irene Servinski Strauss.

After graduating from Strong Vincent in 1970, he served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He greatly enjoyed golf, often golfing from the last traces of snow in the spring until the ball was no longer visible through the snow in the winter. He loved sports and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He enjoyed going camping with his family. The past few years he took up reading books. Most of all, he experienced a life full of beautiful memories filled with laughter and much love. He worked primarily for RM Kerner and Smoker Friendly.

Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Gillette. He is survived by his wife, Susan; three daughters, Amber Wildfire (Justin), Rebecca Smith (Christopher) and Nicole Strauss, all of Erie; two grandsons, Alexander and Jonathan Wildfire; a granddaughter, Rayellen Johnson; a sister, Katrina Marks of Erie; nieces and nephews.
