Joseph D. DeFazio, age 97, of Erie, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born October 14, 1914 in Erie, a son of the late Salvatore and Mary DeFazio. He had worked at General Electric for 41 years. He was a member and Past President of the Calabrese Club. He was also a member of the Nuova Aurora Club and an active member of St. Paul's RC Church where he served as an usher and was Past President of the Holy Name Society. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Philomena Corsi DeFazio; four brothers, Salvatore, George, Nicholas and Gaitano DeFazio; two sisters, Dorothy Bielak and Rose DeFazio and son-in-law, David Palmer. He is survived by one daughter, Patricia M. Palmer of Erie; one son, Joseph P. DeFazio of Erie; three grandchildren, Rebecca Subbian, Todd Palmer and Amy Peterson. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 1617 Walnut St. at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. St. Paul's Holy Name Society will conduct a prayer service at the funeral home on Monday at 3:00 p.m. To send condolences visit www.orlandofuneralhome.com
