Joseph Janosik, 94, was born in Cokeburg, Pa. and moved with his parents to the Waterford area as a young boy. Joe had been nearly a lifelong Waterford resident. As a young man, Joe served in the CCC in Norman, Va. and also served his country in World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, and the Aleutian Islands. During his service he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Theater Service Ribbon. Following his service time, Joe returned to the Waterford area and worked as a commercial unionized painter, a career which he retired from over 30 years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman and an experienced hunter, trapper, and fisherman. Joe had great respect for the outdoors and enjoyed feeding the birds. Watching the many humming birds that came to his feeders was a great pastime and source of joy. Joe was a proud member of many organizations during his lifetime. His affiliations included: North American Hunting Club, PA Trappers Association, American Legion, BPOE, NRA, Waterford Fair Booster, and Ducks Unlimited. Joe worked as a Deputy Game Protector for the PA Game Commission and received the "Wildlife Conservation Award". Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frieda B. Janosik. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers -- Ted, John and Tom, and two sisters -- Stella Mullen and Julie Karotko. He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
