Joseph M. Cesario Jr., 49 of Lake City, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 as a result of a motorcycle-automobile accident. He was born February 2, 1964 in New York City, a son of Barbara J. Pierson Cesario Litz of Girard and the late Joseph M. Cesario Sr. Joe graduated from the Girard High School in 1983. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served two active tours of duty and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves. While a reservist he was called to active duty during the Persian Gulf War and deployed to Iraq where he served for a period of one year. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Navy E Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Expert Rifleman Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, W/M Device and numeral "2" Sharpshooter Pistol. He was employed by UPS in Erie and worked there for 12 years. Joe was a member of the Fairview American Legion Post; the Little Club in Fairview and enjoyed remodeling his home, hunting and riding his Harley. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son in infancy. He will be greatly missed by his family which includes his mother, Barbara J. Litz (Thomas) of Girard; a daughter Grace M. Cesario of Davis, Calif.; a sister, Aimee B. Waller (Steven) of Lake City; two brothers, Anthony J. Cesario (Jackie) of Girard and Christopher J. Cesario (Vivian) of Saegertown, also several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held there on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. James Rimmer officiating.
