Laura C. Straite Jones, age 79, of Greene Township, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Manor East. She was born in Sparta Township, Crawford County on December 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Donald and Opal Maxson Straite. During her working years, Laura was a Nurse's Aide working at Erie Infants Home, Olean Hospital and Hamot Hospital. She was a member of Grandview Alliance Church. Laura enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her loving grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Brenner, June Graber and Alma "Peg" Jones and one brother, Raymond Straite. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Jones; their three sons, Philip Jones and his wife Wendy, Brian Jones and his wife Sylvia, all of Wattsburg, and Eric Jones and his wife Shelia Strawser of Gibsonia, Pa., one daughter Marilyn Jones of State College, six grandchildren; Andy Jones and his wife Susan, Matt and Robert Jones, Erin Fonzo and her husband Benjamin and Ian and Lauren Strawser and one great-granddaughter Lia Fonzo. Laura is further survived by one sister Lelia Blakeslee and her husband William of Corry; two brothers, Clifford Straite and his wife Lynette of Erie and Lester Straite and his wife Sharon of Whittier, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504, on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Grandview Alliance Church with Rev. James Lynn officiating, interment will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Laura's name to Grandview Alliance Church, 1102 East Gore Rd., Erie, PA 16504.
