Lillian Jeanne Malanowski, 87, of Erie, died Tuesday February 12, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness. A resident of Erie most of her life she was born in Virginia Beach, Va. on July 12, 1925. Lillian was co-owner of the Red Fox Inn and the Burton Plaza with her late husband, Robert, for many years. She enjoyed Bingo and slot machines. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert A. Malanowski; one son, Michael Palermo; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, Daniel Palermo and his wife Barbara of Roswell, Ga. and Joseph Palermo III and his wife Carol of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Marci Palermo, Heather Crawford and her husband Cory, Michael Palermo and his wife Amy, and Aaron Palermo; three great grandchildren, Michaela, Cameron, and Sydney; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to services there on Friday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
