Lois A. Burger, age 96, of Chicago, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at St. Paul's House, in Chicago. Born in Erie, July 23, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jessie Hendrie Burger. She was a 1934 graduate of East High and a 1938 graduate of Ohio University. In 1941, she earned her MBA from Northwestern University. Lois stayed in Chicago and worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for almost 50 years. She worked her way through the ranks to the position of "buyer." At the age of 70, she retired and was also named the Sears "Buyer of the Year." Lois loved living in Chicago and took full advantage of the plays, symphonies, and cultural attractions there. However, she never forgot Erie and visited here several times a year to see her extended family. She loved to travel and traveled extensively in Europe and Southeast Asia with her sister Vera, and Chicago friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sisters, Verna Helstrom and Vera Hart; a niece, Janet Helstrom; and a nephew, Charles J. Hart. Survivors include, two nephews, Tom Hart, wife Ruth, of Apex, N.C. and Tim Hart, wife Lynne, of Erie. Many great nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Friends are invited to call on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Boulevard.
