Dr. Lori Ann Gornall Obituary
Dr. Lori Ann Gornall, age 49, passed into the loving arms of Our Lord on Saturday, November 27th, 2010, unexpectedly at her home. Born in Erie on January 16, 1961, Lori was the beloved daughter of Robert D. Gornall, Sr. and Mary Ann (Karmazon) Gornall. Lori's childhood dream was to become a teacher. She spent her life realizing that dream. After graduating from Strong Vincent High School in 1978 she went on to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University in 1983, her Master's of Education from Edinboro University in 1990, her Secondary Administration Certificate from Edinboro University in 1996 and her Doctorate of Education from Duquesne University in 2006. Lori started her career as a teacher at Gridley Middle School from 1985 to 1992, then as a teacher at Strong Vincent High School from 1992 to 1999. In August 1999 she became the Associate Dean at Collegiate Academy and in June 2003 she became the Dean of Collegiate Academy. In August of 2009 she assumed her current position as the Executive Director of High Schools. The students of the Erie School District are the legacy of her love and compassion and stand as a testament to her memory. Lori is survived by her brothers, Rob Gornall and his wife Louise, Mark Gornall and his wife Pamela of Houston, Paul Gornall and his wife Kelly; her sister, Lisa DeMarco and her husband Dr. David DeMarco. Also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews: David, Christopher, Jonathan, James and Lisa Ann DeMarco, Grahame Gornall of Houston, Lauren and Matthew Gornall, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Cathedral, 230 West 10th Street. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
