Lula E. Howland, age 87, of Conneaut, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home where she had recently been residing. Lula was born on Monday, January 26, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late George A. and Lula L. (Curtis) Potter. She graduated from Rowe High School in Conneaut, Ohio and married her late husband, Howard Howland. Besides being a dedicated wife and mother, Lula worked for several cleaners in the Conneaut area where she worked as a steam press operator. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed collecting and listening to music and making jewelry. Besides her parents and her husband, Lula is preceded in death by a son, Evan and three brothers; Ralph, George, and Lawrence. Lula is survived by her son, Brett Howland and his wife, Susan of East Springfield, Pa. and a sister, June Varketta of Ashtabula, Ohio. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home at 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 6 until the time of the service at 8 p.m. with Tim Kraus, Minister of the Conneaut Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
