Michael David "Doc" Swick DMD Obituary
Michael "Doc" David Swick, DMD, age 64, of Erie, formerly of Conneaut Lake and Pittsburgh, passed suddenly, on Friday, July 6, 2018.

He was the beloved husband for 40 years of Jill (Conley) Swick, cherished father of Juliet Swick, dear brother of Jan (Sam) Caldwell, and admired uncle of Erik "Benzy" Bencivenga.

He was preceded in death by parents Eugene and Dolores (Grada) Swick.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14th at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel, 55 West Bay Drive, Erie, PA 16507. A memorial service will follow at 3 pm.

Mike graduated from North Allegheny High School in 1971, La Roche College in 1975 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1979. He practiced dentistry for 36 years in his Allison Park and Conneaut Lake Dental Offices. During this time, he became an expert and innovator in the field of laser dentistry, developing the Swick "High Fluence" Technique. Holding numerous offices and on the board of directors for various dental societies, he was also the author of many scientific and clinical dental articles and presentations. Mike taught laser dentistry courses throughout the United States and internationally, including Europe, Japan, Chile and the Bahamas, always returning home with a story to tell and great restaurants to recommend.

In 2015, Mike joined the faculty at LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Erie, where he was an Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry. He loved teaching and encouraging the students to achieve their highest potential.

Mike was a former member of both the Crawford Masonic Lodge 234 and the Zem Zem Shrine in Erie. An avid fisherman, he was a member of the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie and the Conneaut Lake Sportsman's Association.

Memories of fun, laughter, perseverance, learning, generosity and love will keep Mike forever alive in the hearts of his family, friends and three little Pomeranians, Ella, Ritzy and Dulci.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the LECOM School of Dental Medicine Students' Scholarship Fund, 1858 W. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16509

Arrangements are entrusted to Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc. (Pittsburgh). Please leave condolences at www.schellhaasfh.com.
