Morris LeRoy Shiley, age 77, of 1412 Catherine Court, formerly of Custer, S.D., died on Friday, January 25, 2013 in his home. He was born on October 27, 1935 in Albion, Pa. the son of Morris Astor and Florence Ann (Snyder) Shiley. He married Mary L. Smith on May 24, 1958 in Lusk, Wyo. She survives. Mr. Shiley was a career military man having served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was later a mechanic and worked for the US Forest Service until his retirement in 2003. Morris was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish. He was a member of the VFW. Morris was also a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Custer, S.D. and was active in the local Knights of Columbus. He also greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and camping. However, his greatest enjoyment was time spent with family. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by; two daughters, Moreen Stambaugh of Quincy, and Melinda Rinella and her husband James also of Quincy; five grandchildren, Jeremy Delaney and his wife Shayla; Aubrey Hunter and her husband Dusty; Luke Evjen and his wife Amy; Nicholas Rinella and Alex Rinella; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Mundkowsky and her husband Bill and Linda Nine; along with nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Morris was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melisa L. Delaney; and two brothers, Duane Shiley and Bruce Shiley. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veteran's Home with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus service to follow. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to Blessed Sacrament Parish.
