Naomi Chase Filley, 88, of Erie, died Saturday morning, November 17, 2012 at her residence, following a brief illness. A resident of the Erie area all of her life, she was born in Waterford, Pa., July 19, 1924, a daughter of the late Bert and Inez Bonnell Chase. Naomi was a graduate of Academy High School and went on to work for the General Telephone Co. as an accounting clerk for 30 years before retiring in 1982. She enjoyed her luncheon club and playing cards. She also enjoyed puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Ernest Filley, Sr.; two sisters, Juanita Chase and Olive May; and three brothers, Oliver, Row, and Gail Chase. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Niedzielski and her husband David and Patricia Love, all of Erie; one son, Ernest Filley, Jr. of Erie; two sisters, Geraldine Blass of Waterford and Donna Schemeck of Skaneateles, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Lindsey and her husband Justin, Alyssa, Danielle, Jessie, Chelsea, and David; one great-grandchild, Liam; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
