Norbert P. Amann age 81 of Erie, passed away on Tuesday December 10, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center following a brief illness. He was born in Erie on September 22, 1932 a son of the late Albert and Clara Echle Amann.

Norbert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In his earlier years he worked in the auto body industry for Amann Brothers Body Shop, Roth Cadillac, Dahl Motors and Ferraro Ford. He later retired after twenty years of service from Erie Insurance as a claims auditor. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and was an excellent archer and caller when it came to turkey hunting. Norbert loved to "scout" nature and would walk into the woods in the very early morning and watch nature come alive.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Urban Amann in 1973 and one son, Gerard Amann in 1979.

He is survived by two daughters, Robin Leuschen and her husband Randy of Erie and Lisa Miller and her husband Russell of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three sisters, Rose Marie Ropelewski of Erie, Joann Pearson of Rockford, Illinois and Patricia Allerton of Ontario, Canada.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA16504, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to a prayer service there on Friday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
