Phyllis Ruscitto Obituary

Phyllis J. Covert Ruscitto, age 77, of Erie, died Monday, May 31, 2010, at her residence. Born May 2, 1933, in Cranberry Township, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John and Theresa (Campbell) Covert. A graduate of Cranberry High School, Erie Infant Home, and Hospital School, she worked at Saint Vincent's Health Center Newborn Nursery for 37 years. Phyllis was a member of Erie First Assembly of God, and enjoyed reading, her swimming pool, walking at Presque Isle, and taking care of her two youngest grandchildren, John and Lauryn Kunselman. She was preceded in death by a son, John Stroup; brothers, Lester and Dick Covert; sisters, Blanche Yeager and Evelyn Court, along with two infant sisters. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Eugene R. Ruscitto; her children, Bill Stroup, wife Sandy, Julie Wurst, and Marie Kunselman, husband Gene; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend a service Friday at 11 a.m. at Erie First Assembly of God Church, 8150 Oliver Road. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Erie First Assembly Building Fund, Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 1001State St., Ste. 1400, Erie, 16501, or Southern Care Hospice, 16039 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, 16335.
