Rainer E. "Ron" Roberts, age 66, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Germany on December 2, 1946, son of Helen Pignanelli of Copperas Cove, Texas and the late Richard Roberts. Rainer came to Erie in 1960 and was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School, class of 1965. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving two tours with the 101st Airborne. Rainer attended bar at the Lakeview Tavern and was previously employed at Inland Container Co. He was an avid Browns fan. Besides his father, Rainer was preceded in death by his wife, Cathleen Crolli Roberts and stepfather, Victor Pignanelli. He is survived by two sons, Richard Roberts (Fiance, Tracy) of Millcreek Township, Brian Roberts (Anita) of Erie; two grandchildren, Andrew and Brandi Roberts; three step-grandchildren, Erik Thomas, Ashley Mezzacapo and Theresa Holdsworth; five step great-grandchildren, Aiden, Joey, Avah, Mia and Aubry; one brother, Tom Roberts and one nephew, Dallas Roberts both of Waco, Texas. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 W. 10th Street, on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service there at 4:30 p.m. Private interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
