Reuben L. Taylor, 76 of Erie and formerly of Fairview, died Tuesday February 12, 2013 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Brookville, Pa. December 19, 1936, a son of Mary Evelyn Taylor of Erie and the late David H. Taylor. Reuben attended the Fairview High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of seventeen. He was stationed at the South Pole, Puerto Rico and stateside as a Sea Bee. Following his military service he returned to the Erie area and worked for many years at Zurn Mfg. in the Foundry. He was a Life Member of VFW Post #470 and a member of the Girard, Fairview and Millcreek American Legion Posts. He enjoyed hunting, was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his mother, Mary E. Taylor he is survived by his loving companion, Nyla Snyder of Erie; three daughters, Alana Taylor of Ballground, Ga., Laurie Abbot (David) of Hartford, Wisc., Jeanne Taylor of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, David Taylor and Kenneth Taylor (Diane) of Lake City; two sisters, Helen C. Powers (Maurice) of McKean, Alana C. Buzza of Jacksonville, Fla., two brothers, John A. Taylor (Jerri) of Lake City, Thomas E. Taylor (Miquele) of Tionesta, Pa.; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call to the Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard on Friday from 12 Noon to the time of Service at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Rimmer officiating.
