Robert John Farkas, age 61, died at home, with his wife and his dog Junior at his side, on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Rob was born at Hamot Hospital on November 11, 1951, the son of the late William and Mildred (Olson) Farkas. He spent his entire life on the lower west side of Erie and was proud of it. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School. Rob was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as an NFL and NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his wife and dog at their camp "Hunky Haven," in Tidioute, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William "Billy" Farkas. Rob is survived by his wife, Mary M. "Muffi" Mascaro, his beloved buddy, Junior, "The Cats," his daughter Cache Marie Thouvenell of Upland, Calif.; sister-in-law, Joan Caruso of Westfield, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Rick Mascaro of Anderson, S.C., and many good friends, including Russell and Diane Leone and Luke and Marge Eastman. There will be no visitation or services. A private remembrance will take place, at a later date, at Robert's beloved retreat, Camp Hunky Haven. The peace of nature dwells there. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501. Arrangements are being handled by the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th and Liberty St.
