Robert Samuel Corritore, Sr. passed away on August 22, 2013 at the Erie VA Hospice Unit after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Erie on May 27, 1938, he was the only son of Samuel J. and Dorothy (Maras) Corritore, who preceded him in death. Bob was also preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene (Baird) Corritore.

He attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from Cathedral Prep in 1956. He spent 10 years in the United States Navy. Bob and his father Sam founded Corritore Builders in 1961.

Robert has benefited the Erie Community as a business and civic leader and as a consistent supporter of Cathedral Preparatory School for Boys. A prominent contractor and real estate developer, he presided over the construction of over 3,000 homes and 1,000 apartments and commercial buildings. He was the President of the Home Builders Association of Erie and a Director of the Pennsylvania and National Home Builders Associations.

Bob founded and coached the Prep Hockey Team, had been a co-chairperson of the annual Prep Auction for many years, and served on the Prep board of directors. He was the Cathedral Prep Alumnus of the year in 1981 and was inducted into the Cathedral Prep Hall of Fame in 1993. He was a member of the Gannon University Board of Directors and the Millcreek Township Planning Committee for many years. Bob was a past member of the Erie Club, Lawrence Park Country Club, Lakeview Country Club and The Rivers Club. He was a life member of the Maennerchor Club. He was also a member of the Order of the Elks Lodge 67, and the American Legion Post 771. He was a past member of the Wolves Club and PROBUS.

Bob and his wife lived in Sunrise, Florida and The Village of Mallory in The Villages, Florida for many years. They returned to Erie in May of 2011.

Bob leaves behind his wife, Marjorie (Conley) Corritore; his oldest son, Jeffrey Corritore, and Jeff's daughter Vikki Corritore, son Bob Corritore, Jr., his wife Patti (Krahe) Corritore, their son Samuel and daughter Anna, his daughter Jodie Brewer, husband Alan, their sons Alan Jr. and Craig, all living in Erie, Pa., and Andy Klaus-Corritore, his youngest son, who lives in Denver, Colorado. He is further survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Sipple; his aunts, Betty Corritore and Virginia Bruno, and very dear cousins, Janet and Lee Corritore and Charlie Corritore. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive, along with his dear life-long friends, Eleda and Adelmo Duchini.

Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. followed by a service conducted by Reverend Chris Singer. Private inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family appreciates the loving care Bob received from the Regional Cancer Center and the Hospice at the Erie VA Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Father Dollinger Scholarship Fund at Cathedral Prep, 225 West 9th St., 16501, the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St., 16505, or the VA Hospice Center, 135 East 38th St., 16504.
