Ronald J. Guth Obituary
Ronald J. Guth of Morrisdale, Pa., passed away peacefully, on September 5th, surrounded by the love of his family. Known alternately as Papa, Dad, Uncle Ron, or Mr. Guth, he was born in Erie, on March 26, 1948, to the late Stanley Guth and to Florence Pinczewski who died when he was two years old.

He was also predeceased by his adoptive mother Rose Jarvis, as well as his beloved wife of 49 years Judith (Bosnjak) Guth.

Ron graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and received his Master's degree and principal's certification from Westminster University. He served as Head Teacher in Cussawego Township with PENNCREST School District in Crawford County and as Supervising Principal at Upper Dauphin Area School District in Dauphin County, where he oversaw four elementary schools. Ron moved to Morrisdale in 1986, where he served as principal of the West Branch Area Elementary School until his retirement in 2006.

Ron devoted his adult life to improving education, both for the students and the teachers in his schools. At West Branch, he led the implementation of the Balanced Language Arts Program, for which the state of Pennsylvania awarded West Branch the status of Model School during the 1999-2000 school year. In 2003, Standard and Poor's included West Branch in its publication "The Greatest Gains: Making Consistent and Significant Improvements," citing Ron's school as one of fifty-one schools in Pennsylvania with consistent and significant improvement over a four-year period.

He was a dedicated family man, who doted on his wife and was proud of his daughters and of his grandchildren. He treated everyone fairly and expected the best out of everyone. He came to be everyone's problem solver. You knew he cared about you and that you were in his good graces if he gave you a hard time and ribbed on you. He loved to travel and camp. Known for the cologne that he wore, he expected kisses from the women he was closest to after putting it on in the morning, while his teachers and staff used the aroma to track his movements in the school. He was also a self-taught woodworker who built things for the people he cared about. He was adored. He will be missed.

He is survived by his loving daughters Lara Beeson of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and Aimee Finnan of Charlottesville, Virginia, sons-in-law Wallace Beeson and Joseph Finnan, his cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Savannah, Joseph, and Christopher, niece Vicki Warren and nephew Jimmy Guth of Erie, Pennsylvania, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the West Branch Elementary School Library, in care of the West Branch Elementary PTO, 356 Allport Ave., Morrisdale, PA 16858.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale.

Key Largo's Restaurant, Allport, will open at 5 p.m. to receive guests for dinner.
