Ronald Paul Washok Obituary
Ronald Paul Washok, 71, of Erie, died on February 8, 2013 at home after a four month battle with a brain tumor. He was born on August 20, 1941, in Erie, son of the late John and Gertrude (Lendzion) Washok. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jack and a sister Donna. Ron is survived by his best friend and wife of 40 years, Irene, and by five children, Jim Washok and Kim (Robert) Jones, both of Bluffton, S.C., Eric Person and Katrine Danowski, both of Erie, Kirsten Verbus of Phoenix, Ariz., and 11 grandchildren. Also survived by brothers John (Jan) Washok of Jacksonville, Ark., and Jerry (Janie) Washok of East Springfield and a sister, Linda Urch, of Erie. Also survived by several aunts and one uncle, all of Erie and many nieces and nephews. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force working on B-52 bombers. He worked for several companies repairing and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment including Caplan Company and Andy's Equipment. Ron was blessed to have many great friends and a loving and caring family. The family will receive friends at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, 134 West 7th Street, Erie, Pa. on Friday from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a Mass for Christian Burial celebrated by The Very Rev. John P. Downey. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be in the Columbarium at the Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. Paul, Regional Home Health, 3526 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16508 or . Many thanks to the wonderful nurses and therapists who cared for Ron in these past few months and to his children and grandchildren who helped with his care.
